Futurama

Edit:

I just noticed my post didn’t post correctly.  The REAL reason I wrote about this link…was that I thought the movies sucked.  I loved the TV show, but didn’t really enjoy the movies all that much.

update

Posted by Jason Wu on February 24, 2009

I haven’t really blogged like I use to.
Lets see what we have to update on.

I believe I got the ‘real’ Enbrel in the clinical study I am participating in. I’m at least getting some placebo effect. I’ve seen slight improvement so far and I hope for more in the future.

I really do not enjoy being on the Houston Business and Tax Law Journal because of the footnote editing but I will be turning in my journal paper Thursday for review and I am next year’s Information Technology Editor for the journal.

I’ve been playing Left 4 Dead on the PC and it is really fun. We still try and play football every Saturday and I enjoy the exercise. The weather has also been pretty good, not too hot not too cold.

Two people asked me in the past week about Twitter. Are you on twitter? (my twitter: jasonwu7890795)

McGrady is out for the season, which sucks, but he was sucking anyways. Rafer is gone, which is fine by me, but I would have liked to see more in return. My fantasy teams aren’t going well, and I fear the worst for the team that lost my first two draft picks to season ending injuries.

The new apartment has been great so far. The walls are a bit thin, but there isn’t an interstate highway or a train. Parking isn’t as bad of an issue as I though, perhaps by pure luck.

I’m just starting to blab now.

Left 4 Dead is 50% off this weekend on steam

http://store.steampowered.com/app/500/

I’ve had a lot of fun playing this game.  I mainly play with my brother, Cary Lai and Andy Lai.  It’s good time spent together ‘virtually’.  I did get the chance to finally play with Sunny last night.  There were many hillarious incidents.  My bad, I shot the car and the alarm went off.  Steam was having some server issues last night.  It took us a long time to find a server and we eventually crashed out.  It was getting late anyways, but still.

Longhorns in the NBA/NFL

Posted by Jason Wu on February 12, 2009

Sungjin noted that he thought Longhorns in the NBA did better than Longhorns in the NFL:

Why is it that Texas basketball players do well after a couple years while the football players have maybe one or two good years?

I think part of the problem is football itself.  The punishment a body takes results in short careers.  Secondly the football players who go to Texas are treated like kings and suddenly find themselves rookies in the NFL…a tough transition.  Texas basketball is growing but it still pales in comparison to Texas football.

For your information:

25 things

Posted by Jason Wu on February 5, 2009

All the rage on Facebook these days is posting 25 random things about you.  I want to say I’ve already done this…perhaps for MySpace or maybe even here on my blog.  Either way, I got ‘tagged’ to do it, and there isn’t really a reason for me not to post on it.  Random things are fun and interesting.

1. I went to Hawaii but didn’t get to snorkle because my rib was broken at the time (see previous post about Gerald Wallace and I).

2. I’m introvert but prefer not to be alone most of the time.  I say most of the time because I do enjoy being alone sometimes.

3. I want a Yellow Lab Retriever puppy, but never want him to grow up.  I specifically put him because I want a male dog.

4. I am easily addicted to soda.  I basically go on roller coaster ups and down.  I basically try to drink none the month before finals, because I use soda like a drug during finals.

5. I feel I am capable of doing anything, but do not excel at anything.  Jack of all trades, master of none.

6. I take pictures so I can remember events in my life.  It isn’t like I don’t remember things, but I’ve never been a person of detail.  Pictures give me the exact details like who was there and the exact date.

7. I love to drive.  It is a feeling of having more power.  I can drive to so many places and people.  When I’m stuck only to my feet, I’m limited.  I don’t like being limited.

8. Whataburger ketchup is tasty and I can eat it with anything.  When I get the Chicken Strips and it comes with fries and Texas toast, I eat the toast with ketchup.

9. Oddly, even though I like the sweeter Whataburger ketchup, I do not like to mix sweet with salty.  Pineapple pizza…is no good.  I like pineapple and I love pizza, but the combination is not a winner.

10. I need many hours to sleep, not because I sleep for a long time, but because I wake up often.  It isn’t sleep apnea as far as I know, but because of my psoriasis.

11. Psoriasis is the biggest ‘thing’ in my life.  It affects my sleep, my clothes, my laundry, my hair style, everything.

12. I hate people who brag, so I try to restrain from complimenting myself.  When people ask what I do, I say I’m a student.  I feel saying ‘law student’ automatically makes it sound like I’m bragging.

13. Don’t get me wrong, I’m really proud of making it into UH Law.  I openly state my belief that I have the lowest undergrad GPA of all the people in law school.

14. I couldn’t run a mile without stopping until college.  I still struggle with endurance, but I can play full court basketball for 3 hours…well, at least I use to be able to.  I can run rest run rest run rest w/o problem.

15. I remember having to shop in the ‘husky’ section when buying a suit in the 4th or 5th grade.  I am now underweight for my height, but I’ve filled out a lot more than when I was in high school and college.

16. I have a 401k from when I worked.  It suffered greatly in the down market.  I should roll it over to an IRA, but…yeah.

17. I was born in Taiwan and moved here when I was three.  My parents speak Taiwanese and Mandarin.  I spent many summers in Taiwan with cousins who speak Mandarin.  I use to go to ‘Chinese School’ on Saturdays growing up.  I took 3 semesters of Chinese at UT.  Yet, I am STILL unable to read/write Chinese, and my speaking/listening abilities are about the level of a 4 year old.

18. If I won the lotto, I would travel the world, but eventually I’d end up doing a low paying easy going job.  I envision teaching Geography and coaching kids basketball.

19. I can’t stay at home all day.  I have to leave the house at least once during the day just to get out.

20. I prefer to have my radio volume levels at 5, 10, 15.  I can live with it at 12 and other levels when other people are in the car.

21. I loved wearing watches growing up.  I stopped wearing a watch regularly when I started working.  I would take off my watch because it got in the way when I typed.  With my cell phone as my primary mode of telling time, I almost never wear a watch anymore.

22. I am afraid of butterflies.  Nicole Kidman says she has the same fear.  The same applies to moths.  I generally don’t like things that can fly because they’re harder to kill.  I feel they have a genetic advantage.

23. I played violin growing up.  I don’t know why we didn’t play piano like everybody else, but for a few years we drove 30 miles to Victoria to get violin lessons, until she started coming to PL because so many Asian families wanted to take lessons.  I was NOT in orchestra, but that was probably because I lived in PL and our school didn’t offer such luxuries.

24. I’m pretty open with my on-line identity.  I do try to keep things professional and open.  I have two different sets of photos.  The ones I post and the ones I do not.  I try to keep everybody’s record clean.  Let me know if you ever see anything of mine or somebody else, that would negatively affect a person’s life.  You know you get Googled by everyone including employers.  Luckily Jason Wu the designer is eating up all my Google data so that its harder to find stuff about me.

25.  I can’t spell.  Good thing Firefox underlines all my errors in red.
