Bye Tammi

Posted by Jason Wu on November 24, 2008

As you get older you see a lot of your friends come and go.  It doesn’t get easier to have a friend leave, but time passess.  I can almost categorize my friends into different stages of my life.

Tammi was great in many ways.  She played and excelled at all the fun things we like to do… football, volleyball, poker, board games, dogging on Duffy…

Anyways, keep in touch Tammi, you’ll be missed.

Random stuff you learned in grade school

Posted by Jason Wu on November 24, 2008

You answered 29 out of 33 correctly — 87.88 %

Average score for this quiz during November: 78.1%
Average score: 78.1%

This is from Shane’s blog.  A lot of the stuff is really random.  I had to dig into some elementary school knowledge to answer some and some I had to use my multiple choice skills.

Basically when they gave this to US elected officials they did worse than the general public.

Two funny things:

1.  the guy broke through the wall to get to the lady

attacker forced his way into her northwest Houston apartment by breaking through the sheetrock wall from a vacant unit

2. the lady was stabbed, but still managed to shoot at the guy (who fled)

Although she was stabbed several times during the struggle, Livingston managed to grab her gun and fire two or three shots at the man, who then fled, police said.

Daylight Savings goes bye bye til Spring

Posted by Jason Wu on November 4, 2008

I always post about daylight savings time.  I love the extra daylight at the end of the day because I’m a late sleeper.  English builder and outdoorsman William Willett conceived DST in 1905, unlike what “Cranium WOW” believes (Benjamin Franklin).  William Willett wanted longer days to play more golf, awesome. It wasn’t actually used until WWI.  The US didn’t even adopt it first, they waited an extra year before following in their allies footsteps.  As the very sour tasting Bush administration prepares to leave, they at least left us with the extended DST that we use today.

Arizona does not observe DST.  Being Mountain Time Zone they are one hour behind Texas, located in the Central time zone.

So…  5pm in Texas in December means it is 4pm in Arizona.   During DST 5pm in Texas makes it 3pm in Arizona because Texas is really at 4pm+1 hour.

Arizona’s reason is because they are in the desert and extra sunlight means extra use of air conditioning.

Iverson

Posted by Jason Wu on November 4, 2008

Iverson got traded to the Pistons.  I have no problems with the trade, but people keep saying that Joe Dumars is such a great guy and never makes mistakes.  Dumars drafted Darko.  The End.
