The King

Posted by Jason Wu on May 31, 2007

LeBron James was a total beast tonight. I can’t believe what he did in the final minutes of regulation and again in both overtimes.

Utah Sucks

Posted by Jason Wu on May 30, 2007

It was nice to see the real side of Utah fans. During and after the loss to the Spurs, Utah fans were throwing things onto the court. A mainly white fan base, Utah has been constantly praised by the media for being great fans. The truth is, they are bitter losers. Utah finally let the world see their true side by throwing trash onto the court during and after the game. Two fans were even taken away in handcuffs. I’ve never liked Utah since the Malone days. It gives me peace to know that Utah has never won an NBA Championship.

Gmail upgraded the maximum attachment size from 10 MB to 20 MB

Posted by Jason Wu on May 30, 2007

Gmail Doubles Maximum Attachment Size to 20 MB.

Of course, few mail providers will accept a such a big message so be carefully unless of course you are sending your attachment to another Gmail user.

With file sizes growing Gmail will soon need to use a special upload tool, something that will show the progress of your upload.  I imagine eventually you will get timeout errors with such big files.

I believe this limit use to be 5MB.  Recently I was sending a picture to Andrew.  With my files nearing 10MB, it was good to see the limit was raised.

Texas Legislature bans speed cameras, requires warning signs for red light snappers.

It still has to be signed by the Governor, but I don’t see why this won’t go into effect.

Leandro Barbosa

Posted by Jason Wu on May 24, 2007

http://myespn.go.com/profile/truehoop?tag=leandro+barbosa

I enjoy reading this stuff on TrueHoop.

Canadian Gregory Dole lives in Brazil, and describes himself as a “freelance writer, English as a second language teacher, basketball coach, basketball scout, and world traveller.” That’s a career that, not too long ago, took him deep into the life of a certain Brazilian Blur (and, to a lesser extent, William Wesley).

In the spring and summer of 2003, before and after the NBA draft, Dole was Leandro Barbosa’s translator. In the hopes of landing a book deal, Dole is sharing tales of his time with Barbosa. The first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh parts were published in recent days. There are more to come. When we left them, Dole and Barbosa are about to embark on a secret, last-minute trip to make one final team visit, to the Phoenix Suns.

what to do

Posted by Jason Wu on May 22, 2007

Fancy dinners confuse me.  Now I know my drink is on my right.

http://blogs.wsj.com/law/2007/05/10/law-blog-news-you-can-use-an-associate-etiquette-lesson/index.html

1.  The Cardinal Rule: Bread on the left, drinks on your right. But there’s an exception: If your neighbor boorishly co-opts your bread plate, don’t make a fuss, says Mintz partner Deborah Daccord, who co-chairs the firm’s hiring committee. Either take the next available bread plate or ask your waiter to bring another plate.
2. Napkins: If you leave the table during a meal, it’s considered proper form to put your napkin on your chair.
3. French Fries: So delicious but so problematic, requiring a bifurcated standard. If you are eating your main course with your hands, i.e. a burger, then by all means eat your fries with your hands. But if you’re dining on steak, then the frites should also be consumed with silverware.
4. Soup: Once it cools sufficiently, you are actually allowed to pick up the bowl and down it, boarding-house style. Just kidding. The rule is to scoop the soup by pushing your spoon away from your body. Kelly offers this hand mnemonic: Like little ships going out to sea, push my food away from me.
5. Chowda: Being a Boston-based firm, Mintz offers particular guidance on New England clam chowder. Typically, Daccord explains, you are not supposed to crumble crackers in your soup. (Even we knew that one). But chowder is often served with those oyster crackers. Not a problem: just empty the crackers into your soup, without crunching them.
6. Intros: You should always introduce a person of lesser authority to a person of greater authority, i.e., President Bush, this is the Law Blog, because it’s assumed that 43 needs no introduction.
