music

Posted by Jason Wu on April 27, 2006

Some people say you can tell a lot about people by whats on their iPod. Sadly I don’t own an iPod and never will until they allow simple drag and drop to load music. I even gave away an iPod that was given to me for free by my company. Beside that fact that I don’t use an iPod, I don’t think what’s currently on my mp3 player will show you much about me. At any given time I’ll have the space filled with all types of weird music. I use my mp3 player as a testing ground for music. I ‘acquire’ songs from new artists or whatever is popular and I listen to them on my portable player. I also transfer them from where I ‘acquire’ them to home/work/ with my mp3 player cause its a simple usb key style with drag and drop capability. You could see my playlist and think we’re in sync musically, but in fact I may hate what’s on my playlist at any given moment. Thinking about this, I made a couple of CDs of my favorite music. I limited myself to two CDs and only one song per artist. It was actually pretty hard to limit myself to only two CDs. I had to drop a few of my favorites.

migration

Posted by Jason Wu on April 27, 2006

I’ve started to use more WordPress power. I moved all my ‘html’ files, like the ones about basketball, into the wordpress ‘pages’. So now, without frames, I can just keep one ‘index.php’ and only have to update links etc in one place. I was originally going to write my own using php include, but realized WordPress already does it for me. This post is of little value to anybody so I’ll stop here.

nba

Posted by Jason Wu on April 25, 2006

I’m watching the NBA in HD. I can’t wait for all TV to be in HD. LeBron isn’t having the best game, but he’s so physically superior to even NBA level players.

Edit:
I can’t believe you let the Spurs hit a 3 to send the game into overtime. I think that’s just plain bad coaching. You’re up by three, a two will not tie, they suck at free throws, that was terrible. Kings, you deserve to lose. You never leave your man when you’re up by two. Bibby, its not your job to help out, its not your job to rebound, you have to guard Brent Barry, a known 3 point shooter.

Blanton Museum

http://blantonmuseum.org/about/ego.cfm

This is a good way to avoid big grand opening crowds. The museum is having a 24 hour grand opening event:

24-hour Extremely Grand Opening
Saturday and Sunday, April 29-30
9 PM Saturday through 9 PM Sunday

They already opened for student April 20th. They did the right thing and kept admission free to students.

out of bounds

Posted by Jason Wu on April 21, 2006

People need to stop arguing with me about the rules of basketball.

NBA.com
Section I-Player The player is out-of-bounds when he touches the floor or any object on or outside a boundary. For location of a player in the air, his position is that from which he last touched the floor.
There is NO mention that it is illegal to touch the ball, go out of bounds, return inbounds, and grab the ball.

NCAA RULES
Section 1. Out of Bounds—Player, Ball
Art. 1. A player shall be out of bounds when he or she touches the floor
or any object other than a player on or outside a boundary line. An airborne
player’s status shall be where he or she was last in contact with
the floor.
A.R. 1. A1 blocks a pass near the end line. The ball falls to the floor in bounds but
A1, who is off balance, falls outside the end line. A1 returns, secures control of the
ball, and dribbles. RULING: Legal. A1 has not left the playing court voluntarily and
was not in control of the ball when leaving the playing court. This situation is similar
to one in which A1 makes a try from under the basket and momentum carries
A1 off the playing court. The try is unsuccessful,

The NCAA even gives an example.

IMDB wonders

Posted by Jason Wu on April 20, 2006

I was looking to see what blockbusters are coming out and just kept going and going into the future to see how far it would go.

I stumbled upon something to look forward to in March 2007
